Knee Pain & Injuries: Symptoms, Causes, Treatment in Fort Worth
January 11, 2023
Knee pain is a common complaint that can have a variety of causes. The knee is a complex joint that is made up of bones, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. All of these structures work together to allow the knee to move smoothly. However, any one of these structures can become injured or inflamed, leading to pain. If you are experiencing knee pain, you may be wondering if you should see a chiropractor for treatment.
Chiropractors at Cityview Chiropractic in Fort Worth are experts in the treatment of musculoskeletal issues, and they can often help to relieve knee pain without the need for surgery or medication. One way is to realign the spine or hips, which can take pressure off of the knees. Also, adjustments can be made directly to the knee joint to improve motion and release pressure. Chiropractic for knee pain has been shown to be an effective treatment for both the short and long term.
Common Symptoms of Knee Pain
Knee pain is one of the most common types of pain that people experience. Chiropractors in Fort Worth are often sought out for help with knee pain.
Here are some of the most common symptoms of knee pain so you can determine if you need to see a chiropractor.
Swelling and stiffness
Redness and warmth to the touch
Weakness or instability
Popping or crunching noises
Inability to fully straighten the knee
Causes of Knee Pain
Some common problems are sprained ligaments and meniscus tears which often happen when people fall wrong or jump high without warming up properly beforehand – these can definitely trouble your knees for some time!
Knee pain can be caused by injuries, mechanical problems, and arthritis.
Common Injuries That Cause Knee Pain
Knee injuries are one of the most common types of injuries that people experience. Whether you’ve injured your knee in a car accident, playing sports, or simply from everyday wear and tear, knee pain can be incredibly debilitating.
Some of the more common knee injuries include:
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injury
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of four important stabilizing ligaments that connect your shin bone to your leg bones. The most common location for an ACL injury occurs when playing sports such as basketball, soccer, or other activities which require sudden changes in direction quickly executed with force without stopping before taking another step towards their intended goal while experiencing full extension at ankle level.
Fractures
Knees can be fragile and easily injured, especially those that involve the kneecap (patella). Osteoporosis is another factor that weakens your bones, so they’re more likely to break when you fall or get into an auto accident.
Torn meniscus
The meniscus is a flexible, tough cartilage that acts as an important shock absorber between your shinbone and thighbone. If you twist it while bearing weight or apply too much force to the leg with any kind of movement, then this can result in tearing one side off from its neighbors!
Knee bursitis
Inflammation in the bursae can cause pain and swell around your knee joint. The sacs are small fluid-filled pockets that cushion our joints so they don’t rub against each other or get hurt when we move, but if there is too much inflammation it could lead to some serious problems like arthritis!
Patellar tendinitis
The inflammation of the patellar tendon is what causes tendonitis. This can happen to anyone who performs activities like running, cycling, or jumping into things with too much force on this area will likely result in pain for many people- especially athletes involved primarily in high-impact sports such as soccer(though it could occur at any time).
Mechanical Problems That Cause Knee Pain
Some examples of mechanical problems that can cause knee pain include:
Loose body
If you have a loose piece of bone or cartilage floating around in your joint space, it can cause problems when trying to move smoothly. A pebble-sized object might get stuck like an old door hinge if this happens.
Iliotibial band syndrome
The iliotibial band syndrome is a common problem for runners and cyclists, but it’s also seen in people who perform other sports such as football or baseball. The tough band of tissue that extends from your hip to knee can become so tight at times during exercise because they are not stretched out enough before being used again frequently- this leads to them rubbing against your outer thigh bone.
Dislocated kneecap
When the patella bone sticks out of place, it can be dangerous as you may think there’s something wrong with your knee. In some cases, this will involve seeing dislocation, and even if not always means that all parts are sticking straight up rather than down or vice versa.
Hip or foot pain
While trying to avoid hip or foot pain, you may alter your walking style which can put extra stress on the knee joint and cause knee cramps.
Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis. It’s a wear-and-tear condition that occurs when cartilage in your knee gets maneuverable with use and age, leading to bone-against-bone contact where there should be none.
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition that can affect almost any joint in your body, including the knees. However, it’s a chronic disease and may come back again after periods without symptoms or flare up suddenly due to stressors like injury/surgery.
Gout
A gout is a form of arthritis that can affect your toe, knee, and other joints in the body. The cause of this condition has been linked with high levels of uric acid within one’s system which lead to the formation & buildup of certain types of bones where they join together as well as any soft tissues around them making it difficult to walk without discomfort.
Pseudogout
Knees are often mistaken for gout, but it is caused by calcium-containing crystals that develop in joint fluid. The most common location of this condition on the body’s joints happens to be the knees. Pseudogout can also affect other parts like fingers or toes if they have poor circulation there too.
Septic arthritis
Septic arthritis often occurs with a fever, and there’s usually no trauma before the onset of pain. This type can quickly cause extensive damage to knee cartilage in some people who suffer from it.

I finally decided to prioritize my health after turning 54 years old and experiencing wicked menopausal symptoms. Turning to Dr. Sanders for help was one of the best decisions. I am feeling joint relief, clearer brain functions, better digestion, and more restful sleep. Trust the process. . . have realistic expectations. . . be patient with your results. I accompanied my finance to his appointment because it pained him to drive with his shoulder issues. I was already being see at the Joint in Granbury so didn’t think about being seen here until my fiancé said I should get looked at since my lower back pain wasn’t getting better despite my visits. Dr. Saunders looked at my intake form and presenting problems and actually explained what the problem was before adjusting me. I went back for an X-ray and decided I was done with the Joint because Dr. Saunders really is driven to improve your quality of life and squarely focused on “cracking your back”. I could not recommend him more. I’ve seen a few chiropractors in my live and he is hands down top of the list!! Plus the ladies at the front desk are such peaches! Thank you for all you do.
The staff here are wonderful! Dr Sanders is an amazing chiropractor. My son felt relief from the first adjustment. He helped us understand my son’s problem and gave us a detailed plan to resolve it. I was so impressed, I started getting adjustments myself. I feel better after every visit. So grateful for Dr Sanders and the entire team!
My family has used Dr Sanders for years. Regular adjustments and even with our infant to help her early. I Was involved in a car accident recently so of course used Dr Sanders who has been absolutely spectacular in recovery and walking me through the entire process in the background. I doubt I’d be able to feel as good as I do after the incident without his expertise. 10/10
Top notch care from a top notch provider. This was the best care I’ve ever gotten from a chiropractor. The staff is very professional, kind and funny. The whole experience as a patient was smooth and comfortable. I highly recommend them to all seeking care.
I’ve had several different experiences with chiropractors but this one is top tier. From my initial appointment, the staff gave me a warm welcome and walked me through my intake paperwork. After that I received X-ray’s and a consolation. It was clear that Dr. Sanders’ loved his practice and helping his patients. He explained the issues I was having and the plan for treatment. Dr. Sanders’ and his staff are personable, friendly and very attentive. 10/10!!
